Dear:
RE: Appeal for Grant-Financial and Outreach Assistance
The purpose of this project is to provide a safe haven for mothers with young children; offer stability, foundational skills, preparation, and education leading to gainful employment. The mission desires to provide 2-3 months residency, 3 meals daily including snacks, and a safe and healthy environment. Also, we would provide motivational classes aimed at raising awareness and building confidence and encouragement.
The mission concentrates on young women because they bare children. More often than not they lack stability, direction, or skills necessary to succeed in life and become productive citizens. Through positive role modeling, and classroom instruction, residents of the mission will recognize and learn positive avenues towards success.
Presently, there are no projects with these advantages in Washington, D.C. We believe this project to be conceptually advantageous; having weighed the intended results against the costs. Washington, D.C. is the nation’s capitol and as such, we desire a caliber of leaders who reflect traits conducive with integrity, leadership, and management.
In addition, the mission agenda offers not only the basis for success, it offers the visions of exceptional and learned visionaries; dedicated, grounded, and known for longevity and faithfulness.
This is an ongoing project; depending totally on grant assistance and monetary gifts from supporters on an ongoing basis. Many visionaries have received this letter of appeal for funding assistance to initiate and sustain this project; please add your name to the rolls by assisting in our efforts. We would like to begin this project in the fall of 2003. Funds for this project are trusted to the Chevy Chase Banking System, and should be remitted accordingly.
Upon acceptance, banking information will be provided privately, and, in accordance with banking and security measures.
Sincerely,

| IMPACTED AREA – WASHINGTON, DC
Metropolitan Washington D.C; the inner city, is where need is most deeply felt. In this area, under age child - bearing is all too common. Young teens are mothering and attempting to raise children single-handedly, and by any means possible; prostitution and drugs being factors. These activities usually result in high fatalities, failed lives, and utter destruction. It is certain there is never enough, nor to much help and development as it relates to child guidance, pregnancy and prevention, childcare, housing, education and employment suitable to resolving the ever growing roles of souls falling by the wayside in this area specifically.
At one time, similar programs were in place; however; since that time they’ve either lost their way, suffered inadequate funding, have misappropriated funds, or have simply shut down for one reason or another. Recently however, I have learned in fact that there aren’t any such programs in place presently, and certainly nothing comparable to this proposed project. More often than not provisions are wrongly handled and missed more than matched; leaving those most needy still needy. I believe if you teach a man to fish, he can provide for himself and someone else, especially if this is taught as a standard! Sometimes to accomplish this you must spend time not just teaching a man to fish, but fishing with him to accomplish the greater end. It is also my belief that the responsibility for these children; who are the future leaders mind you; a fore-shadowing of things to come, should be shouldered by mankind as a whole, if in fact the elements of the whole, are genuine human kind themselves. If in fact it takes an entire village to raise a child, then we’re all villages.
I’ve seen the aforementioned problems first hand; being born and raised; and now living in Washington, D.C; Eastland Gardens - Ward 7 for 35 years. I’m a 49 year old black female who’s raised three children right here in the mix, amid great concerns, and with undeniable help from God and my mother, who also raised her three children by herself; though married: I must add; we both did so successfully.
My oldest child Audrey is 31 years old, and attained her Bachelor’s Degree in Law – Criminal Justice from American University. My daughter Charity is 19 years old, and is simultaneously enrolled at PGCC and the University of MD, College Park, achieving her masters in Sociology. And, my son Joshua is 16 years old, a soon-to-graduate Charles H. Flowers (HS) student, who signatures his class assignments and documents as follows; Joshua E. Blackwell, aspiring Ph.D. Already, Joshua is noted for many academic aspirations. Joshua appears in “Who’s Who” among high school students, as do his sisters, and he’s received a letter of acclamation honoring his academic prowess and endeavors signed specifically by the President of the United States.
My desire is to implement and facilitate an outreach program that discovers and recovers the lives and positive potential of young people across this area; whose lives as a result of this program are positively impacted and changed, and who’ll as a result be able to stand individually, while making positive contributions in this same area. In other words, “Pay It Forward.”
This is the impacted area. *A complete copy of this proposal is available on a (need-to-know) basis with a signature. (Penalties, terms and copyright apply)
